Peter Arthur O’Sullivan

Powells Point- Surrounded by his loving family Peter Arthur O’Sullivan died unexpectedly February 8, 2011. Peter was 60 years old.   Peter was born on May 24, 1950 in Maryland.

Peter graduated from Ridgewood High School in NJ.  Peter served his country honorably in the United States Army and completed a full tour of active duty in Vietnam.  After his military service, Peter used his ambition and entrepreneurial spirit to found his own successful construction company which he operated with his wife and sons.

 Peter was devoted to his loving wife Ruth O’Sullivan, who enjoyed 40 wonderful  years  together.  Peter was a loving and devoted father to his two sons,  Shawn O’ Sullivan and wife Shannon , and Shane O’Sullivan. He cherished his time with granddaughter Bethany. He is survived by  his mother Dorothy Sullivan , his siblings Gene and wife Maryanne Sullivan, Mark  and his wife Susan Sullivan, Brian and his wife Yoshiko Sullivan, Matthew “Black” Sullivan, Katie and partner Linda Sullivan, Arthur and wife Janine Sullivan, Dr. Hank Balfour, and Jodie Morgan and families . He was preceded in death by his parents Eugene and Dorothy Sullivan. Peter also has many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and treasured friends, and former business associates.

Peter’s laughter, generously and devotion to family brought joy to those around him. Peter was known for his attention to details that was valued by his customers.

The family will hold a Celebration of Life  at The Pointe Golf Course on February 19, 2011 from 1:00pm t0 3:00pm.  All family friends and business associates are invited. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial tributes be forwarded to Sentara Foundation, notation to be used for Guest Services at  Norfolk General Hospital  600 Gresham Dr. Norfolk Va., 23507.  Condolences to the family may be expressed via the on-line register at www.gallopfuneralservices.com.
