Michael Kuntz
Powells Point – Michael Kuntz passed away on Thursday, January 15, 2015 at his Arabian Farms home of many years. He was surrounded by family and friends and passed peacefully from a prolonged cancer battle.
Born on October 4, 1933, he was the son of George and Mary Kuntz, of Lansford, PA.
Mike joined the Navy out of high school and served as an airman aboard The Coral Sea, Navy aircraft carrier. Here, he developed a desire to fly and learned valuable skills used in later in life.
During his career, he owned a hobby shop, obtained flying licenses / aircraft ratings, became a charter company pilot, owned a charter company, and flew the Rolling Stones on their 3rd “Performance Tour” in the US.
Later, after moving to Virginia Beach for marketing real estate, he became the 1st “Time Share” marketing manager in the Virginia Beach / Outer Banks area. He had divided marketing jobs at the Colony Condo / Barclay Towers / 4 Sales Resort in Virginia Beach and Outer Banks Beach Club and Barrier Island on the Outer Banks of NC. Additionally, after permanently relocating to the Arabian Farms on the Outer Banks, he established this place as a “working” horse farm for the local area.
Still finding time to launch an entrepreneurial business, Prospect Generation Systems, Michael and his wife, Gay of thirty-four years, began a plastic vaccu-forms business at his Freedom Business Park for commercial lot sales. These were patented inventions that were used to obtain sales leads for stores and businesses. This business lasted from 1983 – 2012 and the “Regi-Stands” vacuum display is still in use at many trade shows.
An avid bike rider, Michael was a true “Renaissance” man. To know him was to know an entrepreneurial mind, a generous spirit, and an open hearted person.
Michael is survived by his wife and best friend, Gay Kuntz; sister; Mary Thomas of Lansford, PA; children, Debbie Ann Kuntz Burden (Chip), Michele Kuntz Torrance, Michael Kuntz, Jr., Deborah Allred Mattaliano, Lisa Allred Powers (Collie), Beth Allred Miles and Mike Watson; grandchildren; Ryan, Nicole, and Wesley Torrance, Melissa Burden Overton (Jake), Nick Burden, Adam Bell, Katie and Collie Powers, Jordan, Jacob, Seth Miles and great-grandson; Jax Overton and numerous nieces and nephews.
