Nancy L. Long

Southern Shores -Nancy L. Long, 68, passed away in her sleep at her home on Thursday 13 October 2011 from complications of a long illness. She is the daughter of the late Carl and Beulah Lewis of Raleigh, NC. She is preceded in death by her brothers, Jean Cary and Robert Lewis, her sister, Marcy Lewis and step son David Gainey.

She is survived by her husband, Mr Peter O “Pete” Gainey, her son COL, Ronnie W Long Jr, USA (ret) and his wife, Christine and her granddaughter, Ms Allyson C Long all of Springfield, VA; her grandson, Mr Eric T Long of Winter Park, FL. She also survived by her brothers Mr James Lewis and wife Betty of Chesapeake, VA and Mr Jerry Lewis and wife Anna of Saskatchewan, Canada and her sister, Ms Shirley McCutcheon and husband William “Bill” of Greensboro, NC.; Sister in law, Ms Sybill Lewis of Lucama, NC and eleven nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held 1:00pm, November 4, 2011 at Pilmoor Memorial United Methodist Church in Currituck, NC. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be sent to Dare County Home Health and Hospice, Box 1000 Manteo, NC 27954.
