Lawrence Cullen Jr

Lawrence Cullen Jr, 67 of Frisco went to be with the Lord on March 13, 2014 at the Outer Banks Hospital.

Larry has touched the lives and hearts of many young people during his 40 plus years of teaching experience both in the US and in Holland including 5 years in the Outer Banks. He served as a soccer coach and received many awards of service and of appreciation for his work with the New Jersey and North Carolina Schools. Even after his retirement, he continued to dedicate his time to the youth through teaching Sunday school and volunteering for vocational bible school.

He moved from New Jersey to the Outer Banks with his wife Helle in 1999 but they had vacationed here 16 years prior. They enjoyed beach driving and fishing, and Larry was a member of the Anglers Club and of the Cape Hatteras Baptist Church. He was well known and well respected in the community through his service and will be missed by many.

Larry is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Helle Cullen, their son Kurt Kjersgaard Cullen, and his sister Linda Bonura. His mother, Frances Matilda Corban and his father Lawrence Cullen, SR, preceded him in death.

A celebration of Larry’s life will be held at The Cape Hatteras Baptist Church in Frisco on Wednesday March 19 at 6:00PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cape Hatteras Baptist Church.
