Martha Lee Kraus

Frisco- Martha Lee Kraus, aged 80 passed away in Nags Head on Tuesday, July 16, 2013 after a brief illness following a stroke.  Martha was born on May 5,1933 in Lakewood, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late Harvey Hudson and Mabel Hudson.

Martha had a lifelong interest in equestrian activities and animal rescue.  An avid rider and professional horsewoman, she enjoyed competing in hunter jumper and open jump. A resident of Dare County, North Carolina, for the past 20 years she supported a variety of wildlife programs.  Martha’s career as a pediatric and later psychiatric Registered Nurse, was devoted to helping others.

Martha is survived by her husband Laurence Kraus; daughter, Melanie; son, Lawrence; and grand daughters, Jessica and Christina.  She leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday July, 23 on the South side of Frisco pier.  In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to The Humane Society of the United States.
