Kitty Hawk- Kathryn Louise Dempsey passed away peacefully on January 25, 2014 at The Outer Banks Hospital. She was 51 years old and is now with our Lord Jesus Christ. Her father, John J. Dempsey preceded her six years earlier. Kathy is survived by her mother Judith A. Dempsey and 2 siblings, Paul V. Dempsey and Judith C. Aiello. Kathy lived on the Outer Banks for 25 years.
Kathy was born on the 11th of December in the lovely state of Vermont on a cold winter’s day. The day she passed was just as cold as the day she arrived.
Kathy was intellectually challenged but was a blessing and joy to everyone who knew her. She enjoyed participating in an array of activities including scouting, swimming, bowling and singing in the chorus at her schools in Baltimore County, MD. Kathy enjoyed many activities in the Dare County Special Olympic program including bowling, boxing, basketball, swimming, bocce, and track and field and won numerous metals and ribbons.
Kathy lived at the Dare County Group Home and attended the Beach Club Activity Center. She loved the Dance Group at the Dare County Senior Center and taking part in the annual Veteran’s Day celebration. Kathy was a truly giving soul and gave back to the community through her volunteer work at Meals on Wheels and the local animal shelter.
Kathy delighted in sewing, listening to music, and watching sports on TV. She attended church every Sunday and appreciated being with her church family. She blessed many members with her radiant smile and saying the Lord’s prayer.
