Jan Charles Sawyer

Aydlett – Thursday March 14, 2013 in Norfolk, Jan Charles Sawyer, a wonderful husband, father, grandpa and great-grand father,  passed to his next journey at peace with his family by his side.

Jan was predeceased by his parents, Charles Sawyer and Patricia Dobbie Sawyer; his brother Ralph Sawyer, and his son Mark Sawyer.

Jan was the original owner of Outer Banks Glass since 1979, when he moved his family to the Outer Banks. Jan loved to hunt, bowl and travel with his family.  There are so many treasured memories with friends and family.  He will never be forgotten.

Surviving Jan Sawyer is his loving wife of 52 years, Carol; his son Chuck Sawyer (Tammy), and his daughter, Kim Sawyer; four grandchildren Chuck Sawyer, Keshia Sawyer, Cory Sawyer, and Desi Harvey; 8 great-grandchildren, Christian, Jazmine, Destinee, Addison, Jayla, Lilly, Dalylah, and Alexis; two grandsons- in-law,  Aaron Fitzgerald and Jay Wilkins; 1 nephew, Jeff Sawyer; 1 niece, Theresa Vachon; a sister-in-law, Jeanette Sawyer; and many wonderful extended family members and friends. Besides his family, Jan will be greatly missed and treasured by his two pals, Duffy and Gracie.  Rest in peace sweetheart until we can be together again.

A memorial service will be held Sunday March 17, 2013 at 3 PM at Powell’s Point Baptist Church – 8383 Caratoke Highway in Currituck. The Reverend Eugene McLawhorn will be the eulogist.
