John Rzeszutko

Nags Head – John Rzeszutko of Nags Head, NC died peacefully on February 26, 2015 from complications of old age.

He was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan in 1920 and lived there until he retired to Florida.  He was married to his wife, Julia, whom he met on a blind date in Kalamazoo.  They had celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary in 2014 prior to her death.

John was a machinist and worked at his trade in paper companies and for General Motors in Michigan until his retirement.  He was also a skilled carpenter and woodcrafter and built the homes in which he and his family lived while also working fulltime.  After moving to Florida, he also built several homes there.  He has passed his love of machinery and of working with his hands along to his children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by wife Julia, a daughter, Charlene, and a brother, Leo.  He leaves his sister, Virginia Crockett, of Portage, MI, daughter and spouse Marsha (Stephen) Sachs of Nags Head, NC, grandsons Patrick Vacca, North Port, FL, and Brian Hanna, Stuarts Draft, VA, great-grandchildren Zachary and Savannah Vacca and Kai and Julia Hanna.

He will always be remembered as loving husband, father and provider to his family, and a caring and respected grandfather.

Interment will be at the Sarasota Veteran’s National Cemetery at a later date, where he will join his wife Julia.  May they rest in peace together forever.
