Mitch Parsons
Mitch Parsons is the son of the late Madge & Howard Parsons and brother of the late Kenneth Parsons of Silver Spring, Maryland. Mitch spent his childhood years in Silver Spring where he was an All-Metropolitan basketball player at Montgomery Blair High School. He is a Navy veteran having served in WWII. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them when they visited his home in the OBX, his home for the last 15 years. In August and October of this year, he attended the weddings of his grandchildren on the OBX where his family surrounded him.
Mitch received his 25-year chip with AA on January 17, 2012. His years of sobriety serve as sign of his ability to conquer hurdles in his life. He worked many years as a car salesman and wholesaler and provided a good life for his former wife of 22 years, Analynn Gerovac, and his three children.
He is survived by his daughters/ immediate family Amber Parsons, Cheryl & Jeff Oetjen and Robin Rector; grandchildren Mark, Michael & Eric Oetjen, Kristelle Toone, Patrick Parsons, and Tyler Rector. Great grandchildren – Danielle Toone, age 14 years, Justin Toone, age 11 years, twins Summer and Madison Toone, age 8 years, and Aiden Oetjen, age 3 1/2 years. Other important family members include Sarah Oetjen, married to Michael, Dustanny Rector, married to Tyler, Courtney Oetjen, married to Mark, Lance Toone, married to Kristelle, and his son-in-law Greg Rector.
A memorial service will be held at the Kitty Hawk Pier at the Hilton Garden Inn on Saturday, November 29, 2014 at 2pm. A gathering of friends and family will follow the service. Flowers may be sent to the Kitty Hawk Pier at 5353 N. Virginia Dare Trail, Kitty Hawk, NC 27949. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the local chapter of AA or the Outer Banks Food Bank.
Mitch was already busy buying Christmas presents for the children in the family. He loved the Holidays and his daughters believe this is his final message to his family. Love each other, enjoy spending time together, take care of yourself, and live a good life.
