Elizabeth Trankley McPherson

Point Harbor- Elizabeth Trankley McPherson of Point Harbor, NC died peacefully on Wednesday, August 21 at Sentara Nursing Center in Barco, NC. She was born on January 18, 1926, in Copley, PA to the late Robert Edwin Trankley and Katherine Gross Trankley. She graduated from Copley High School and then attended the Norfolk, VA extension of William and Mary College. She worked for the Navy Purchasing Office in Norfolk, VA and then later as a school secretary at Crestwood Elementary School in Chesapeake, VA until she retired. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Edwin Trankley.

Survivors include her sons, Robin Leigh Sherman of Safety Harbor, FL and Ricky L. Sherman and his wife Barbara of Point Harbor, NC.; a step-sister, Starr Ann Nichols of Virginia Beach, VA; six grandchildren: Robyn Leigh Taylor of Hudson, Oregon, Kari Bundick of Land of Lakes, FL, Erin Possert of Land of Lakes, FL, William Gregory Sherman of Southern Shores, Robbie Sherman and Allison S. Brown of Kitty Hawk. Elizabeth is also survived by ten great- grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to The Outer Banks SPCA, 1031 Driftwood Dr., Manteo, NC 27954. The family will hold a private memorial service. All family and friends are welcome to gather Friday August 30, 2013 at 12:30 at the Residence of Rick and Barbara Sherman. Arrangements were entrusted to Gallop Funeral Services.
