Ossie Meekins Dunston
Manteo- Mrs. Ossie Meekins Dunston , 84, the daughter of the late Theodore Roosevelt Meekins, Sr. and Lelia Odessa Meekins, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at 4:45 a.m., at her home in Manteo, N.C. Ossie was a resident of the Edenton House in Edenton, N.C. for over three years.
She leaves to mourn; her two sons, James Meekins of Palm Coast Florida, and Thomas Dunston of Manteo, N.C.; two siblings, Wilma Keys of Washington, D.C., and Theodore Roosevelt Meekins, Jr., of Manteo, N.C. , seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.
Preceding Ossie in death were two sisters; Maggie Pendleton and Annie Drake, three brothers; William Billy Meekins, James Milford Meekins, and Nicholas Meekins.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the Haven Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Manteo, N.C. The remains will lie in state one hour prior to service. Pastor Ray A. Hill will be officiating, and grandson, Elder Eric Meekins of San Diego, C.A. will be eulogizing. Interment will follow at Haven Creek Cemetery.
