In addition to his family, Michael was deeply loved by many dear friends, colleagues, and former students throughout Northern Virginia and the Outer Banks.
Michael attended West Virginia University and devoted more than 30 years to teaching art in the District of Columbia and Fairfax County Public Schools. His passion for art, creativity, and education left a lasting impact on the countless students whose lives he touched throughout his career.
Following his retirement from Fairfax County Public Schools, Michael and Hope fulfilled their dream of moving to the Outer Banks, a place they both loved. For more than two decades, Michael embraced the coastal lifestyle and enjoyed the close friendships and sense of community he found there. Michael and his family are grateful to the good friends that took care of him these past few years.
A proud Tennessean and West Virginian at heart, Michael had a lifelong love of hunting, fishing, and the outdoors. Many wonderful memories were made with friends sharing stories, laughter, and adventures in the woods and on the water.
