Benjamin Logan Rider
With love, the fondest memories and a toke, we announce the passing of our young father, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew and friend, Benjamin “Bingo” Logan Rider. Bingo departed this life in Colington February 26, 2026.
Bingo is survived by his two children, Jordy and Maya Rider; sister, Kathy Bernard of Kill Devil Hills, NC; sister, Debra Rider and husband Ray Blehar of Annapolis, MD., along with four nephews and four grand-nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Benjamin Franklin Rider and his mother, Susan Marie Rider.
Bingo was born September 30, 1971 on Rhein-Main Air Base in Frankfurt, Germany. He spent his early childhood exploring several beautiful countries with his family, including the Philippines, England and Korea.
He was a gregarious kid from a young age. Bingo was also curious, adventurous, absolutely accident prone, and would take apart every machine, radio and electronic device and put it back together, just for the fun of it. He spent his adolescent years in Maryland, where he married his childhood friend, Jenny. Bingo’s love for cars and mechanics led him to an apprenticeship at his best friend’s family-owned mechanic shop. There, he quickly refined his trade and excelled, finding great pride in his accomplishments working on heavy equipment.
Bingo lived out his dream to be an “island boy” when he moved to the Outer Banks of North Carolina in 2004. Family filled his heart, and his children, mother, father, sisters, nephews, countless cousins, aunts, and uncles were all deeply cherished by him. Bingo had a deep love for the ocean and the beach, spending countless hours in his favorite places in his Jeep.
He knew no stranger and always spoke highly of every person he encountered. His friends were family to him, and it showed in every aspect of his life. Bingo was the person you could always count on, the life of the party, and he inspired many with his talent, generosity and good nature.
Bingo was so very loved by so many people, and he was surrounded by his cherished family and friends in his final days. His legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering support will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed.
The family will host Bingo’s Celebration of Life gathering on March 14, 2026 from 1:30 pm to 5:00 pm at the Colington Harbor Pavilion (rain or shine). Please share an expression of sympathy with the family at www.gallopfuneralservices.com . Gallop Funeral Services, Inc. was entrusted with arrangements.
Condolences
My deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to the family. We all loved Bingo at The Get go. He always had a smile . May he rest in peace..
My family moved to Colington just 4 years ago. We were blessed to have made Bingo’s acquaintance within a few weeks of moving here. He was instantly open, welcoming and a very good friend. Always smiling, ready with a joke or story. We loved him immediately! Our lives will be a bit greyer, without him. All our love to the family, and his friends who became family by default. We will miss you, Bingo! Until we meet again, God bless.
He was a true friend, deeply respected, and deeply loved.
All of us at the Swell Motel will miss Bingo and his jeep. He and friends decorated our motel with shell towers and every time I see one, I think of him. We feel fortunate to have known him and got to spend time with him. I hope he’s dreaming of the ocean until he meets his family and friends again.
Bingo was one of our best friends. He was always there to help with car trouble or even when I sold my house in Colington he drove the U Haul to Va and we unloaded it together. We were neighbors for a few years and enjoyed eating and spending time together. He was a wonderful man and I will cherish every moment we spent together. What a wonderful man he was. He will be missed in a way that can’t be put in words.
My deepest sympathies and condolences to the family. Bingo was a great guy, and always helping others at times not concerned about himself. I pray for your healing and peace knowing that he is no longer in pain. Rest In Peace Bingo, your home free.
Thoughts and prayers to all families, loved you all ❤️❤️❤️
Sincerest Sympathies to Bingo's family. He always had a smile on his face and something positive to talk about whenever I would bump in to him around town. I am so glad to have had the privilege to have known him. Prayers and positive thoughts for all to find comfort in your happy memories together.
My heart goes out to yall. Bingo was one of my best friends. He was truly a genuine down to earth guy with the biggest heart. Ill never forget out famous picture of the day we stuck his burgundy jeep on the wooden ramp over the pipeline on the beach. Would like to tell the story of that day omg whew. He will be greatly missed beyond words.
Please accept our deepest condolences on the loss of Bingo. Our thoughts are with your family during this difficult time.
