Patricia Spencer “Pat” Fadel
The Good Lord knew his angel well, getting Patricia Spencer Fadel to Heaven February 8, 2026 in time for last call. Petite but mighty, “Pat” as she was best known, was born March 12, 1941 in Columbia, NC. Pat always punched above her weight. Once you knew her you would never underestimate her. She fiercely loved her husband and children and unapologetically spoiled her adored grandchildren.
Kind-hearted and generous; Pat fed and cared for all who passed through her door and that door was always open. She treasured her long-time friends. In fact, Pat was the best kind of friend: one you could count on to support and love you no matter what yet will always tell you the truth. Our world has dimmed with the loss of her light but our memories are full of Pat’s anecdotes and our hearts are full of Pat’s love.
Pat Fadel is survived by her devoted husband, Salem (Sammy) K. Fadel of Kill Devil Hills, NC; two sons, Charles S. Fadel, of Long Beach, CA and Michael S. Fadel of Asheville, NC; one daughter, Patricia Kelly Mansfield (Jay) of Durham, NC ; three grandchildren Fox, Zoe, and Braxton; her brother, Harold “Bud” Leroy Spenser and sister-in-law, Pam, as well as a host of other relatives, extended family members, and dear friends.
Pat’s preference for the simplicity of cremation has been honored and no services are planned at this time. Please share expressions of love and grace with the Fadel family at www.gallopfuneralservices.com . Gallop Funeral Services, Inc. was entrusted with arrangements.
Condolences
Dear sweet Pat will be missed terribly because she was very much loved. Miss you already. Helen (from Dr Heyder's)
My thoughts and prayers are with Sam and family. My love to you all!!
Pat's personality was so much larger than her stature! She was a welcoming and loving woman and I remember her wit and sense of humor. My girls and I will miss her❤️
Pat and I became friends about 40 years ago. It was an immediate connection. We were soulmates-same thoughts, values. She was always there for me in good times and bad. Even with her health issues, she was always happy and smiling. Pat uplifted me and reminded me to remember the good things in life. I am fortunate to know her and cherish her friendship.
So sorry for your loss. Pat was a dear person.
This obituary describes Pat perfectly. I considered her my best friend, as I’m sure many others did as well. It’s so rare, but I never heard Pat say one thing negative about another person. Although she struggled daily to catch her breath, she never complained- all she would say was “ I couldn’t run a race, but I’m doing ok.” I will greatly miss our weekly lunch get-togethers. I will think of Pat every time I eat a fried chicken breast. For someone who only weighed 85 pounds wet, she could devour fried chicken. We love you Pat and will miss you dearly, but know we will see you again. Our thoughts and prayers to Sammy and your entire family. Love Sam and Kim Smith
Mr Sammy and family, We are so sorry to hear about Mrs Pat. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. We used to clean for them.
Pat was the best of mothers, not only to her own children but to those of us who were blessed to spend time in the Fadel home as kids. She looked out for us and loved us as if we were her own. As teenagers we only lied to Pat once and I can tell she did not like that one bit! She parented as she lived, with fierceness and love. I can honestly say that Pat and Sammy changed the course of my life. Not only did they have children who introduced me and my husband, but they gave my husband so much great advance PR that I knew I was safe with him. Because that’s how Pat made you feel. Loved and safe. She will be deeply missed.
Pat was indeed sweet and spicy. As a kid and teenager in Greenville, I first knew Pat as a surrogate mother. As an adult with kids, I knew her as a friend and surrogate grandmother for my children. We laughed and cried. She was one of my biggest cheerleaders. Her home was always open and full of food, drink, and love. I will miss her laugh and will think of her every time I cook - as most of my recipes came from her. Praying for her family and friends.
Sammy I just got your message. We ard so sorry about Pat. I know how awkful it must be for you to lose your life partner. She was a wonderful lady and I know it will be so hard without her. I know you never leave your wonderful haven but know you are always welcome to come see your adopted jewish family. We live yoy and are so sorry. Judy and Alan
I was so sorry to learn of Pat's passing. My sister Joanie Canipe who worked for many years at the Jolly Roger and was Captain of our fishing team Blackbeard's Babes always spoke highly of Pat and Sammy. I sure hope she and Joanie are having a grand old time together. ❤️❤️
