Myrdith Mae Midgett

Myrdith Mae Midgett, 86, of Manteo passed away at the home of Jeffrey Pensabene on January 14, 2026 with him by her side in Edgewater, FL.

Myrdith was a special person who always let you know what was on her mind, no nonsense. She chose a career that took her away for many years to pursue her goals as a registered nurse, served our country in the U.S. Air Force, traveling extensively before returning to her native Manteo. She was an attending R.N. at the Dare County Detention Center and then assisted her family members and other families providing in home private care.

Myrdith was preceded in death by her three sisters, M. Doreen Midgett, Margarene “Margie” Midgett and Affie Midgett of Manteo and many special friends.

Ms. Midgett spent the last four years in Edgewater, FL enjoying warmer weather, holidays, and activities with her chosen family: Jeffrey Pensabene (Shannon), Garrett Maddalone (Wendy), Nicholas Pensabene (Sarah), Caitlyn Rhodes (Perry), P.J. Pensabene (Cait), seven great-grandchildren, and her beloved Budda.
