Virginia Lassiter Robertson

Virginia Lassiter Robertson, 95, of Kill Devil Hills, NC, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2025, surrounded by her loving children at Outer Banks Hospital.
Born and raised in Dusty Hill (Jackson), NC to Claytor and Lottie Lassiter, Virginia was one of seven siblings. She then moved to Elizabeth City, NC where she and her husband Wilton raised their family.
Known affectionately as Ms. Virginia, Gimmie, or simply “Granny,” she was a cherished part of the Outer Banks community for more than 45 years, most of that time residing on Sound Side Road in Nags Head. Virginia had a deep love for the coastal environment. She was an avid fisherwoman who competed in many Nags Head fishing tournaments, a talented crafter, a gardener with a remarkable green thumb, and a gifted cook, especially of true southern-style meals.
Her warmth, resourcefulness, and spirited love of life will be remembered by all who knew her.
Virginia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wilton E. Robertson, three sisters, three brothers, and a great-granddaughter.
She is survived by her children: daughters DeLana Barkley (James) and Cindy Robertson of Kitty Hawk, NC; sons Anthony Robertson of Elizabeth City, NC, and Kevin Robertson (Michelle) of Kill Devil Hills, NC. She also leaves behind her brother, Gerald Lassiter of Roanoke Rapids, NC, seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Meals on Wheels via check or money order sent to the following address: Attn: AAA512, Laura Rollinson, South Church Street, Hertford, NC, 27944. Please indicate ” In Memory of Virginia Robertson” in Memo line.
Plans for a memorial gathering are pending at this time. Please leave a message of comfort at gallopfuneralservices.com.
Condolences
I will deeply miss Virginia. I had the honor of delivering meals to her for a couple of years and will cherish those moments spent chatting with her. I always left her home with a smile on my face and a skip in my step. May her memories be a blessing to her family. Laura
So sorry for your loss. Sending prayers to the family.
We are praying for God's comfort and encouragement in this time of sadness. I know you are rejoicing she is with her Savior though, & we celebrate with you. We know DeLana & also Kevin from KHUMC years, and are connected to Cindy through prayers. Her rejoicing smile in this photo exudes her laughter and joy for life.
DeLana, Cindy, Anthony and Kevin. Was so sorry to hear of your great loss. So enjoyed vacations with your Mom and Dad, and fishing with Virginia on our team for so many years. She will be missed by many, including all her buddies. Anna

I will miss Miss Virginia. She was a kind and sweet lady. She always greeted me with a smile when I delivered Meals on Wheels. She always complimented me on the color of my outfits which made me smile. I loved the stories of her past. I met her daughters a few times delivering meals.
