Anne E. Blakeley

Mrs. Anne E. Blakeley, 84, of Newport News, VA, died peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, October 5, at home. Anne is survived by her four children: John Blakeley (Cindy), David Blakeley (Jennifer), Beth Spivak (Steve), and Patti Hallam (Frank Conrad); seven grandchildren: Will, Lauren, Evan, Macy, Austin, Coleman, and Bella; and four great-grandchildren: Levi, Natalie, Millie, and John.
Anne was born September 5, 1941 in Jeffersonville, IN. While attending the University of Louisville, she met and married the love of her life, Capt. William R. Blakeley (USN – Retired). Together, Bob and Anne served their country and Anne made a home and raised their children at twenty-two duty stations in twenty-nine years. Upon Bob’s retirement, Bob and Anne settled in Kill Devil Hills, NC where they crafted children’s toys, rescued the greyhounds that became such an important part of their lives, and where Anne took joy in cooking for those she loved. After Bob’s passing, Anne resettled in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia, making new friends first at the Chamberlin and later at the Mennowood Retirement Community.
A funeral mass will be held Friday, October 10 at 11 a.m. at Holy Redeemer by the Sea Catholic Church. Inurnment at Arlington National Cemetery will follow later this year. Details to follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in remembrance may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
