Floyd C. “Butch” Hampton, Jr.
Chief Petty Officer First Class Floyd C. ‘Butch’ Hampton, Jr. of Elizabeth City, NC crossed the bar at home surrounded by his loving family October 4, 2025.
Butch, 80, was a Purple Heart recipient for his heroic efforts during the Vietnam War, and a member of the local Disabled American Veterans, the VFW William Clarence Jackson Post 6060, The Elks Lodge, Chief Petty Officer Association Club and the American Legion in Elizabeth City. Helping Veteran’s was his passion and he did a job well done and without complaint.
Butch was a husband, father, and Poppop who adored his family. He is survived by his wife Kim; daughter Jessica; siblings; Fred and Linda; his two granddaughters Brianna and Shyanne; grandson Andrew; six great-grandchildren, Andrew Jr, Greyson, Raelynn, Xander, Thomas, and Amanda.
Butch was preceded in death by his father, Floyd Hampton and step-mom Adlene Hampton; mom Lydia and stepfather Edward Lutz; his little girl Amanda Pearl Hampton; and his brother Robert. He was known by many, and loved by more. His loss has left a hole in our lives and he will be missed greatly. We love you so much, get some rest RiverRat, we got it from here.

I’m so very sorry to hear about Butch’s passing. Such a funny and sweet person my family and I loved him from the moment we met him. He was a great friend to my deceased husband and my children grew up with his in base housing. My condolences to Kim and Jessica Watch over us Butch!
