Condolences
My condolences. I live in Sweden and met Bart the first time at Wanchese skate bowl back in 2003. He then came to Sweden with Artisan Skate Parks to build the fantastic skatepark outside Stockholm. We spent a lot of time together at that time. He came to my home and we made sausages together while laughing a lot as always with Bart. I then met him several times when I visited Lotta and Scott and when me and Scott went to OBX for fishing. Last time was in September last year. I’m gonna miss him a lot. 💔
R.I.P, Bart. I’ll miss seeing ya riding your bike down Memorial to avoid all the traffic and giving you a funny heckle with a wave as I pass by doing the same thing. I’ll miss seeing you at the stop & shop deli line and the quick chats with a laugh at all the crazy life brings. I’ll miss that laugh and wild grin under that burly mustache as we rehashed old skateboarding memories with a gleam in your eye like it just happened yesterday. I’ll miss the smack / hug hellos and goodbyes…. I’ll never forget sitting beside you on that backyard bench watching you getting antiqued in purple glitter at Bobs, only to find glitter shrapnel forever after. Gone too soon but, one never can prepare anyway. All we can do is be thankful for the time we had. Thanks for being a friend, Bart. Keep ripping. 🙏
May Burt rest in peace. Praying for his family and friends🙏🙏Hoping all the memories stay vivid and bring only smiles.
I moved to KDH in the late 90s not knowing a single person. I met Bart at the Weeping Radish and he instantly took me in. We had some great times surfing and going to beer festivals and concerts. I also worked for one of the local radio stations. Bart and his girlfriend at the time would request Tool songs at 2 am. The station didn’t play that kind of music, but we did that night. He was an amazing person and a great friend. “I just want to start this over.”
