      Bradford "Brad" N. Loy

      September 9, 2026

Bradford “Brad” Neil Loy, 70, of Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at home on September 9, 2026, surrounded by the love and steadfast care of his wife, Rh0nda, and witnessed by his brother, Jeff Loy.

Brad was born February 29, 1956 (a leap year baby) in Jarvisburg, N.C. at the Wright Clinic. He grew up on the Outer Banks with a deep appreciation for the water, the outdoors, and the quiet strength of coastal life. He carried that love throughout his life, finding joy in hunting, working with his hands, and spending time with loved ones.

Brad was known for his sharp wit, unwavering loyalty, giving nature and a quiet resilience that only grew stronger after his diagnosis of A.L.S.. His courage in the face of a devastating illness was matched only by the devotion he shared with Rh0nda, who remained by his side as his partner, advocate, and constant source of comfort.

Brad is survived by his wife, Rh0nda, who honors his life and legacy with the same determination and clarity he carried throughout his own. He was predeceased by brother David Loy and Father Neil Loy. In addition to his wife, Brad is survived by his mother Nancy Aycock; brothers, Greg Loy and Jeff Loy; and many nephews.

The embracing love from his newly found family- cousin Lou Lou Quinn (Syd) and the Burrus/Davis clan of Wanchese N.C. (on Brad’s deceased biological father Zora Samuel Burrus' side) are honored and recognized.

Brad leaves behind a circle of extended family and friends who will remember him for his humor, his stubborn streak, and the unmistakable way he made his presence known. There are no plans for a memorial service at this time.

Brad will be remembered in the way he lived — with honesty, grit, and a deep love for the people who stood with him in his conservative views. Gallop Funeral Services, Inc. was entrusted with arrangements. By special request: public posts are not being shared at this time and Rh0nda has requested a few days of rest and privacy.

        OUR HISTORY

The Nags Head Chapel and Company Headquarters

        Nags Head Chapel

Gallop Funeral Services, Inc. was founded in Nags Head, NC in 2006 by licensed North Carolina Funeral Director Courtney N. Gallop. This independent, minority and woman-owned start-up funeral home challenged the existing monopoly firm which had sole control of all funeral care, goods, and services provided in Manteo, the Outer Banks, and Currituck County for nearly 100 years.

Finally - someone brought competition into the local funeral industry. As a direct result of Gallop Funeral Services, Inc., local families now have choices, options, alternatives, fairer pricing, flexibility, and a higher level of service in funeral care for their loved ones.

The Barco Memorial Chapel - Currituck

        Barco Chapel

In 2016, Gallop Memorial Chapel was opened in Barco, NC. The spacious, newly remodeled facility is the first and only funeral service-related business ever to locate in Currituck County. The Barco Gallop Memorial Chapel is conveniently located near the Outer Banks, Moyock and Elizabeth City. The elegant yet relaxing chapel interior is welcoming and comfortable for viewings, family gatherings, funerals, and memorial services. Our Barco chapel is perfectly equipped to serve all faiths and families in the county.

Courtney Gallop and the staff at Gallop Funeral Services, Inc. are committed to excellence. We continue to improve, grow, invest, and learn in order to provide the highest level of service for all families entrusted to our care.

        Capital Crematory

        Capital Crematory

In 2011, we built and established Capital Crematory, the first and only crematory ever in Dare County. The crematory supports Gallop Funeral Services and also provides professional cremation services for other funeral homes in the Albemarle area. Having our own local crematory means your loved one's cremation will be handled personally by owners of the funeral home, 100% locally, quickly, and at the best pricing.
