Emma Jean “Jeanie” Bunting

Frisco – Emma Jean “Jeanie” Bunting, died in Nags Head,  February 14, 2014 with her family by her side. Born March 29, 1959 in Portsmouth, VA. She was a lifelong native of Frisco, NC and a graduate of Cape Hatteras School. She attended Chowan College and retired with over 23 years of service as a Captain with the North Carolina Department of Transportation Hatteras Inlet Ferry Division. Jeanie was such an avid UNC Tarheel fan that her beloved cat is named Tarheel.

Jeanie was preceded in death by her father, David Earl Bunting and her mother, Jean Farrow Bunting. She is survived by her twin sister: Sherry Willis and husband Johnny, two brothers: Gary Bunting and wife Brenda, Rex Bunting and wife Linda, sister: Sheila Charrette, nieces and nephews: Angie and Stewart Ballance, Bridgette and Lee Groce, Ashley and Kayla Charrette, Lexi and Chanc Bunting, Rex and Justin Bunting, great nieces and nephews: Karlene and Kimber Ballance, Maddie and Willis Groce, Landen Sonnier, extended family: Pat O’neal and family, Gary Charrette.

A Celebration of Life and reception will be held Friday, February 21 at 2PM at the Hatteras Civic Center. Casual dress requested.  In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations would be welcomed to a Feline Hope charity of your choice.
