  1. Matthew was a big part of our neighborhood for as long as I can remember. His calm demeanor was a welcome distraction from hustle and bustle we sometimes see on the beach. When Matthew pedaled up on his bike you could count a good conversation that always ended with laughter. A true character, His Nags Head friends will certainly miss him.

David Matthew Walsh

June 30, 2023

David Matthew Walsh was born January 28, 1951, in Brainerd, MN and died June 30, 2023, in Nags Head, NC. Matthew was preceded in death by his parents, Harriett and Jerry Walsh.  He is survived by his siblings, Sunny (Steve) Slocum, Thomas (Nancy) Walsh, and Peter Walsh; niece, Elizabeth (Andrew) Kramer; grandniece, Ella; grandnephew; Owen, and his many friends.

If there were a theme song for Matthew’s life it would be “My Way”.  He was funny, creative, and could tell a story like nobody else.

Matthew’s family would like to thank those who made his final days easier. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Matthew’s name may be made to Camp Friendship, 10509 108th Street SW, Annandale, MN  55302.
