Allen S. Chips

Colington Harbour- Allen S. Chips, 50, passed away Wednesday December 5, 2012. Allen was born January 13, 1962 in Des Plaines Illinois. He was the son of Stanley D. Chips and the late Jane Chips of Vienna, WV.

Allen grew up in suburban Chicago with two brothers, John Chips and Daniel Chips, and two sisters, Susan Hall and Mary Henkels. In 1974 his family relocated to Vienna, WV. Allen graduated from Parkersburg High School where he was a state champion in gymnastics on the rings, as well as the 1980 team captain. He attended West Virginia University, graduating with a degree in Business Administration in 1984. Allen had doctorates in both Hypnotherapy and Natural Health.

Allen married Karen Dee Chips May 21, 1983. They have two children, Alana Dee Czypinski of Manalapan,FL and the late Nathan Allen Chips. Their grandson is Jupiter Joe Kirk also of Manalapan, Fl. .

An avid sailor, Allen was a member of Colington Harbour Yacht Club and was a regular participant in the club races in his sailboats ALMOST HEAVEN and EANNA. He was also an author having written and published three books, including one about his experiences combating cancer. He was president of American Holistic University, the National Association of Transpersonal Hypnotherapists, and Transpersonal Publishing. Allen was also a multi-instrumental musician performing both live and recording with various musicians over the years, and his wife Dee.

Left to cherish Allens memory is his wife Dee of the Colington Harbour residence; his father Stanley D. Chips of Vienna, WV; one daughter, Alana D. Czypinski; two sisters, Susan Hall (Bill) of Newburgh, Indiana, Mary Henkels (Bob) of Bethel Park, PA; two brothers, John Chips (Mary Beth) of Pittsburgh, PA, and Daniel Chips (Pamela) of Knoxville, TN; one grandson, Jupiter Joe Kirk of Manalapan Fl; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, his church family, and a host of dear friends and special students.

A requiem funeral mass will be held at Holy Redeemer Catholic Parish in Kitty Hawk, Friday December 7, 2012 at 7 pm. Friends may view at church one hour prior. The interment will be Saturday December 8, 2012 at 1 pm at Manteo Town Cemetery.
