  1. I will surely miss you, Mom💔
I was so lucky to have such a bright, encouraging, loving Mom. You were so very special 💋🦞💋

  2. To Ginny’s Family,
I am sorry to hear of Ginny’s passing. I had the opportunity to spend a lot of time with her at Spring Arbor and she not only brought a smile to me everyday, she has left a lasting mark on my life and heart. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers.

Virginia M. Rettgers

September 30, 2022

Virginia “Ginny” Rettgers passed from this earth on September 30, 2022.  She had turned 100 on February 13.

Ginny was born and raised in Reading, PA.  She married Forrest Rettgers, also of Reading PA, when she was 21.  They had three daughters:  Robin Stone (deceased) of El Paso TX, Pam Cotter of Southern Shores, and Bonnie Rettgers of Long Beach CA.  She had 3 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.

Her husband, Forrest, joined the US Army during WWII as a Private and rose to Colonel during his active duty.  Because of his military service they lived in France, Belgium, and multiple states.  After Forrest’s retirement they moved back to Reading.

Forrest and Ginny bought a home in Duck NC in the 1970’s as a vacation home and enjoyed it for many years with family and friends.

Ginny was active in voluntary roles, including schools, Girls Scouts, and had several part-time jobs in her many locations.

Ginny moved to Spring Arbor in Kitty Hawk after a stroke 5 ½ years ago.  The staff and caretakers fell in love with her (and her them) and gave her excellent care. The family can’t thank them enough for their efforts.

There will not be a local service for Ginny.  She will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery when scheduling permits.  Gallop Funeral Services Inc. was entrusted with arrangements. Please share a comforting thought with the family at www.gallopfuneralservices.com.
