  23. Bill and family
I was so sorry to hear about Tanya. Even though this was to be.
I first met Tanya so many years ago and from the beginning she was so warm and welcoming and so full of energy. I come to understand how vibrant and knowledgeable she was in so many areas! She was always ready to help and always had that smile and warmth. She was an extremely giving person, a fighter like no other and to go through these past 6yrs to do for others, speaks volumes again to her character.
Tanya has surely left her mark on not only family but so many of us that had the privilege to work with her and just get to know her.
She is now free and smiling to be with her God! May that bring peace to you all even through the hurt and missing of her presence… may memories of her life, things she said and did, bring a smile and laughter, for that was what I remember of her, bringing that with her always in person or just on a phone call.
My love, thoughts and prayers are with you all – but especially with Tanya

  24. Bill, Danielle and Katy,

I shared with you in the grief you are feeling at the loss of Tanya. She was such a beautiful person who cared so much about others. She was an example of Jesus’s love.

I will always remember our times together at the Homeschooling events and the visits at the “Pots On”.

I rejoice in the freedom that she has found.

    Love to you all,
    Sibbie

  25. I just learned of her passing. I am so sorry for your loss. I went to Longwood with Tanya and hung out quite a bit her senior year. Late night food runs to McDs and talking about life and relationships. She was beautiful inside and out and her wedding to Bill was the highlight of our school year. I am praying that the memories and moments carry the family through this difficult time.

  26. I was so sorry to read about Tanya’s passing in the Longwood alumni magazine. While we didn’t keep up after graduation, we had such fun times during college boarding our horses together. I’ve thought about her often over the years, especially when I’m trail riding on my horse. In my mind’s eye she will always be that smiling, laughing friend on her mare, Jingles.

Tanya G. Neeland

December 26, 2022

Tanya Gallop Neeland went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ after a grueling six-year battle with ALS.  She suffered through every trial and experiment available knowing the lessons learned would most probably only help the next victims of ALS.

She graduated from Longwood College in 1983, accepting a commission in the US Army 2nd LT Transportation Corps.  She served with honor, determination and integrity until after the end of Desert Storm. She then turned her formidable mind, drive and determination to the family restaurant and raising her two daughters Danielle and Kait.  Those of you who worked with Tanya knew just how formidable her drive and determination could be.

Tanya was active in her community, she led and volunteered with several 4-H clubs and was a focused worker and student on mission trips.

Tanya is survived by her husband, Bill Neeland; daughters, Danielle and Kait; son-in-law, Wole; grandchildren, Ceceily and Gideon; parents, Walter and Penni; siblings, Sherry, Walter, and Trina; and sister-in-law, Heidi. Tanya was a quiet, unassuming, loving and daring person, she will be missed greatly.

A funeral will be held at 1pm, December 31, 2022 at Powells Point Christian Church in Harbinger, NC. Friends and family may view one hour before. In lieu of flowers, donations in Tanya’s name may be made to the North Carolina ALS foundation.

Please share condolences with the family at www.gallopfuneralservices.com. Gallop Funeral Services, Inc. was entrusted with arrangements.
