Shelly Proth Jones

Shelly was granted her angel wings on September 13, 2014 at her mother’s home in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that Shelly had touched in some way throughout her very memorable life.

Shelly lived life fully with her huge contagious smile and big bright eyes. Her naturally fun spirit touched many; those who were touched by her understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives.

Shelly was preceded in death by her Father Paul Proth, Grand Mothers; Margaret McLeod Proth and Edith Clark Johnston.

She is survived by; her husband Andy Jones, mother Carol Dale (Ed Dale) and step-mother Kay Proth, sisters; Sherri Proth (Scott Staton) and Shanna Proth Long (Brownell Long), brothers-in-law; Skip Jones (Kaye Jones), Steve Jones (Cathy Jones), Scott Jones, Jeff Boyd (Janice Boyd),  nieces; Kristin and Heather Jones, Brittany Andino (Ricardo Andino) and Miranda Long, nephews; Scotty Jones and Zane Long, extended family; Kathy Kissinger (Chad Kissinger), Eddie Draper, Harold Dale (Stacie Dale) and Connie Dale and her special Goddaughters McKynna and Kallahan Phelps.

Shelly lived the first part of her life in Newport News, VA, a 1984 graduate of Warwick High School, she and Andy moved to Indianapolis in 1996. Earning a Bachelor degree in Management from Indiana Wesleyan she worked as Regional Human Resources Manager for Vertellus Specialties, Inc.  She was a member of Trader’s Point Christian Church in Indianapolis and an active Breast Cancer Awareness advocate; founder of Shell’s Belles her Susan G. Komen walking team.

A celebration of life will be held 2pm Thursday, September 18 at the Gallop Funeral Services chapel at mile post 16 in Nags Head.  Reception to follow at the Kitty Hawk residence.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Susan B Komen and Community Home Care and Hospice P.O.
