  8. I’ve never got to meet her. All the stories from my father (Joseph Duncan the 2nd) have told me brought her to life. He valued her in ways I’ve never seen, he has a habit of holding in his emotions. When hearing about her in the hospital he was..a mess. Her smile brings the world into a better place and Duncans always stick with there family and will always care. To be apart of a Duncan family I can proudly say it is such an honor. Love to all the family an God bless from all of us.

  9. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, Anthony and your family. You were blessed to have such a beautiful Mother. Just know she is always with you. God Bless!

Rebecca Lynn Duncan Bembury

March 18, 2022

Rebecca “Becky” Lynn Duncan Bembury, 60, of Camden County North Carolina, went to be our Lord and loved ones Friday, March 18, 2022 after a labored battle with colon cancer.

Rebecca was the second born daughter of the late Joseph S. Duncan and survived by Lucille J. Cassett. Born in Dover, Delaware on September 21, 1961 Rebecca had been a small business owner who took pride in her work and relationships formed with clients. Rebecca has been a resident of Camden County for 18 years.

Rebecca was a strong and loving single Mother of two with an extreme love of hummingbirds, butterflies and gardening for their benefit. She also dedicated herself to helping raise her grandchildren and her great granddaughter. She believed in God, his love for her, the existence of greater energies, and in the possibility of things not fully understood. Rebecca had a huge appreciation for art, music, and family; her appreciation instilling the same values in her children.

She loved fishing and would often take the younger family members to help build strong bonds and positive lasting memories. Quick to open her heart and home to others, she would happily be surrounded during family events and Holidays by those with no place to go.

Rebecca is survived by her daughter, Kelly Duncan; son, Anthony Duncan-Velke and son-in-law, Jason Duncan-Velke of Camden, NC; mother, Lucille Cassett; sisters, Wanda Grubbs, Ruth Geddings and Crystal Powers; and brothers, Joseph Duncan II and Bradley Duncan. She is also survived by her grand-children, Nalasha Bembury, Tyrell Bembury, Sheena Bembury, Caidence Velke, and Logan Velke; great-granddaughter, Aria Cornett; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and adopted family members.

The family expresses sincere gratitude to all who have shared their thoughts of love and fellowship with Rebecca as she walked through her final days. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to quality Home Staffing at 425 McArthur Dr. #C, Elizabeth City, N.C. 27909 or Community Home Care & Hospice at 1601 N. Road St. Suite B Elizabeth City, N.C. 27909

A funeral will be held at 1pm on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at the Gallop Memorial Chapel in Barco. Friends may view 2 hours prior from 11am to 1pm. Please express condolences to the family via the online register at gallopfuneralservices.com. Gallop Funeral Services, Inc. was entrusted with arrangements.
