Joseph Melick Morgan, Jr.

Kill Devil Hills, NC-  Joseph Melick Morgan, Jr. 68, and formerly of Great Bridge, Virginia died Thursday January 3, 2008 after a valiant battle with illness. He was the son of Mattie and the late Joseph Morgan, Sr. of Chesapeake, Virginia.

Joseph and his devoted wife of 50 years, Mary Hare Morgan, resided in Kill Devil Hills for 33 years.  Before retiring to the Outer Banks, Joseph worked in the nuclear power industry.  He loved the Outer Banks and spent his time fishing, golfing and spending time with the family and friends he adored.

Besides his wife, Mary Morgan of the Kill Devil Hills residence, Joseph is survived by five children; Darlene P. Morgan and son-in-law Eric Morrison, Joseph D. Morgan and daughter-in-law Melissa, Wendy M. Sessler and son-in law Luke, Brian K. Morgan and daughter-in-law Dawne, and Mary Jo Redd; 12 grandchildren, Hillarie, Dustin, Abbey, Campbell, Shelby, Graham, Luke, Brandi, Duncan, Joshua, Sophia, and Lil Jo Jo; and two great-grand babies Evelyn and Ayden.  Also surviving are his three sisters, Dolores Dilday, Phyllis Richardson, and Susan Phillips, and two brothers Timothy Morgan and Michael Morgan as well as a host of dear friends.

The family will be celebrating the life of Joseph Morgan, Jr. at the family residence at 609 Indian Drive in Kill Devil Hills on Sunday January 6, 2008 from 12 noon until.  Gallop Funeral Services, Inc. assisted the family with arrangements and condolences to the Morgan family may be forwarded to the online register at www.gallopfuneralservices.com.  Memorial tributes to Joe may be made to a diabetes foundation of your choice.
