Johnnie Wilder, Jr.

MANTEO, NC- Johnnie Wilder, Jr. a long time Manteo resident, died Sunday December 16, 2007 in Barco, North Carolina after a long illness.  He was born November 7, 1936 in Summerton, South Carolina.  He was predeceased by his parents Johnnie Wilder Sr. and Elise Robinson Wilder.

Johnnie traveled for many years and eventually settled in Manteo after living in Florida.  He worked for many years at R.V.’s Restaurant in Nags Head.  Johnnie lived life to the fullest and will be greatly missed- especially his dear friend, and guardian Nick Meekins of Manteo.

Johnnie is survived by three brothers Lucious (Barbara) Wilder, Berry Wilder, and James (Mattie) Wilder, all of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, three sisters Virginia Hicks, of Baltimore, Maryland, Gloria Longs, of Philadelphia, and  Elise (Otis) Knox  of Yeaton, Pennslylvannia, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A celebration of Johnnie’s life will be held Thursday December 20, 2007, at 5 O’clock in the evening in the Gallop Funeral Services Chapel at 6917 South Croatan Highway Nags Head, North Carolina.  Pastor Emma Jones of Living Word Outreach Ministry will officiate.
