James A. Speener, Jr.
Kill Devil Hills – James A. Speener, Jr, 61, transitioned from this life naturally at his home in Colington, NC September 15, 2022. Jamie, as he was lovingly known, was born in Peoria County, Illinois on March 20, 1961.
After proudly serving his country in the United States Army, Jamie worked hard developing various skill and talents which he used to create several small businesses over the years. Most recently, he launched a local power washing business.
In recent years, Jamie’s greatest enjoyment came from relaxing and spending time with his family and friends. Jamie is survived by three sons, John Speener and Andy Speener both of Manteo, NC, and Winston Speener of Arkansas; one daughter, Emma Speener also of Arkansas; five siblings, Rosalie Walkup of Akron, Ohio, Etwinda Speener of Florida, Frank Speener of Peoria, Ill, David Speener of Pekin, Ill, and Patricia Whitman of the Colington residence as well as numerous extended family members and close friends.
Jamie’s family is honoring his directives for cremation and there are no plans for memorial services at this time. His cremated remains will be returned back home to Illinois.
