Eva H Wilkinson

Eva H Wilkinson, 97, of Southern Shores, NC died Friday December 5th at her residence.

Born November 6th, 1917 in Daretown, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Herbert Rockefeller Hitchner and Sarah Ballinger Hitchner, and was preceded in death by her husband James S. Wilkinson Sr., MD and brothers Steve and Ralph Hitchner and sisters Esther Hitchner and Florence Garrison.

Eva graduated from the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania School of nursing in 1938. She was a home maker in Raleigh, NC, for many years and moved to Southern Shores upon the death of her husband in 1998.

She is survived by her daughter, Carol L. Wilkinson; her son, James S. Wilkinson, Jr., MD; and grandchildren Elizabeth, Spencer, and Emily Wilkinson.

The family will receive friends at All Saints Episcopal Church in Southern Shores Wednesday, December 10, 2014 from 6 to 8 PM. The funeral service will be held at All Saints Episcopal Church Thursday, December 11, 2014  at 10 AM with Father Tom Wilson officiating. The committal and burial will take place at Southern Shores Cemetery immediately following the funeral.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Eva’s memory may be made to Dare County Hospice or All Saints Episcopal Church.
