Dorothy Catherine Mathews

Dorothy Catherine Mathews died Thursday December 14, 2006 at her residence in Salvo, North Carolina.  She was 85.  Dorothy Mathews was born July 8, 1921 in Englewood, New Jersey. She was the daughter of the late Maurice Cooke and Catherine Dougherty Cooke.  Besides her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her brothers John Cooke and Michael Cooke and her sister Eleanor Cooke Whaley.  Mrs. Mathews was a real estate broker for many years and a longtime member of the Catholic Daughters of New Jersey.

Left to cherish Dorothy’s memory are her devoted daughter Michele Mathews and son-in-law Steven Bittmann of Salvo, her son, Thomas P. Mathews of Asheville, North Carolina, her sister Elena Healy of New Jersey, and 5 grandchildren Carson Mathews of New York City, Erika Mathews Phelps and Matthew Tsocanos both of New Jersey, and Adam Bittmann and Tor Bittmann both of Salvo, North Carolina.
