Andrew John Fiedler

Kill Devil Hills- Andrew John Fiedler of Colington Harbour, North Carolina passed on Friday, October 24, 2008 in Norfolk, Virginia. He was 17 and a senior at Manteo High School. Andy was born April 9, 1991 in Fort Collins, Colorado. The youngest son of Ned and Beth Fiedler of Colington Harbour, Andrew was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Ed and Betty Fiedler of Whiting, New Jersey.

He lived in Windsor, Colorado; Bozeman, Montana; and Camden, North Carolina before moving to the Outer Banks in September, 1998. He attended Kitty Hawk Elementary, First Flight Elementary, First Flight Middle School, and First Flight High School before transferring to Manteo High School his junior year. Campfires, football, and everything outdoors were his greatest loves. Andy loved animals and will be dearly missed by the family pets. Andy always put family above all else.

Andy was just beginning his journey into adulthood. He planned to enlist in the Marine Corps or to attend the Coast Guard Academy, where he would have certainly been an asset. He was funny, goofy, kind, handsome, smart, and mischievous; Andy will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Andrew John Fiedler is survived by his parents, Ned and Beth of the family home; sisters Kate E. Fiedler and Maggie Fiedler of Colington Harbour; Ellie Guthrie (Scott) of Grandy; brothers Greg Fiedler (Deb) of Grand Cayman; and Doug Fiedler of Colington Harbour. He was a combination loving uncle/pesky big brother to five young nieces and one nephew: Eleanore (Nonny) Stayton, Katrina Guthrie, Lutia Stayton, Conor Guthrie, Olivia Montague, and Penny Fiedler. Also surviving are maternal grandparents Martha Lawlor of Laramie, Wyoming and Dale Lawlor (Mary) of Peoria, Illinois. In addition, Andy will be missed by extended family Charles Sawyer, Sharon Ruckle, Lance Montague, Sean Stayon, friends Nick Myers, Josh Rhodes, Devon Sanders and many other friends and acquaintances throughout Dare County. He will also be dearly missed by Schae Grimball of Manteo.

A celebration of Andy’s life will be held Wednesday October 29, 2008 at 3:30 pm at Outer Banks Presbyterian Church in Kill Devil Hills. Casual dress in blue is requested. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations in Andy’s memory may be made to Ducks Unlimited, 1 Waterfoul Way, Memphis, Tennesse 38120, the Kill Devil Hills Library PO Box 1000 Manteo, North Carolina 27954, or the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation at 121 S. Saint Asaph Street Alexandria, Virginia 22314. Students are invited to bring a pumpkin in Andy’s memory in lieu of flowers as he loved Halloween.
