Lillian L. Meekins

Manteo-Dare County Native Lillian Lee Meekins passed away Wednesday September 13, 2017 in Norfolk Virginia with her cherished family by her side. She was 69. Lillian or "Lillipop" as she was known locally was the daughter of the late Theodore Robinson Meekins Sr. and Amanda Lee Meekins.

Lillipop joined the Job Corp at a very early age after graduating from Manteo High School. While participating in the program in Kansas City Missouri, she pursued a career in the medical field. After attending the program, she worked in central North Carolina for many years. She later returned home to Manteo where she raised her son and worked at The Dunes and The Ship's Wheel restaurants. She was a devoted member of the Disciples of Christ Church for many years. She later joined the Manteo Community Choir where she traveled to many various locations around the state as well as many areas of Virginia.

A private and reserved lady Lillipop will be remembered as a kind loving mother and a quiet servant of her church and her community.

A service of remembrance will be held at Gallop Funeral Services Chapel in Nags Head Thursday, September 21, 2017 at 2:00 pm with a visitation two hours prior. Burial at Haven Creek Cemetery on Burnside Road in Manteo will follow the service.
