Jimmie Mary Bramer

Nags Head- Jimmie Mary Bramer died in her home unexpectedly on June 15, 2017 in Nags Head, NC. She was 70.

Jimmie, affectionately known as “Nanny” to many, was born on December 21, 1946 in Clarksburg, WV to her parents, James and Mary Starr.

She graduated from West Virginia University with a teaching degree, focusing on special education.  She went on to receive her Master’s Degree and was accepted into the doctoral program, both at WVU.  Jimmie was employed by the Harrison County School system for over 30 years. She was a patient and inspiring teacher to children with special needs.  She also developed the Special Education program in her area, acting as director for over 15 years.  She married Larry Bramer August 12, 1966.

Jimmie’s passion was her education and work. She also enjoyed the water- some of her favorite memories were of lifeguarding, and coaching the swim team.  Her other love was her horse, Scarlet.  The two of them together were a picture of sheer joy.  Later in life, she found peace in watching the Food Network with her cat, Tiger.

Ms. Bramer is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Mike Nagle of Nags Head, NC; her grandsons, Brandon Lee Bailey, and Tommy James Fornash; and one great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents James Edward Starr and Mary Olive Starr.

The family will honor Jimmie's request for cremation and no local services are planned. Condolences to the family may be expressed via the online register at www.gallopfuneralservices.com.  Gallop Funeral Services,Inc. was entrusted with arrangements.
